Choa Wang recently told American Chemistry Society that work has begun on a self-healing material that could stitch itself back together after being damaged.
His inspiration is Wolverine from X-Men. This type of material can and is being applied to more than just electronics though. There are paint coatings for cars and even concrete that fills its own cracks. What else can you think of that could benefit from this type of technology?
