LK-99
In early August 2023 a story came out of scientists claiming to have created a new compound (dubbed LK-99) which might lead to room-temperature ambient pressure superconductors. While still needing peer review and verification it is a technological advancement that could change electronics from batteries to EV cars to wind turbines. This is all related to electricity so as the digital age grows this advancement will impact many aspects of our lives.
When electricity is transferred through a conductor there is often a loss and heat is generated. Superconductor material in the right environment has zero resistance and no electricity is lost while being transferred. While even if verified and true it will still take years for an advancement like this to come down to consumer electronics but following LK-99 will be interesting.
