Fake Microsoft Tech Support Scammers

  • by

fake tech support

People get scammed every day by fake tech support folks making unsolicited phone calls to technically – challenged victims, with the intention of exploiting their computer.

Cyber criminals may claim to be “calling on behalf of” Windows Helpdesk, Windows Service Center, or Microsoft Support. Microsoft warned that these scammers will try to “convince you to visit legitimate websites and download software that will allow them to take control of your computer remotely, and adjust settings that leave your computer vulnerable.”

This scam generally involves a person who claims to be from Microsoft, and the claim that Microsoft has detected a problem on their Windows PC. This person then offers to remote into the sick PC, to supposedly fix the problems.

Neither Microsoft nor its partners make unsolicited phone calls about your computer security or software fixesDo not trust unsolicited calls. Do not provide any personal information.  The REAL Microsoft will never call your home claiming to be receiving errors!
