What’s the right Anti-Virus? By Mitch

best anti-virus protection

It seems like everybody has an opinion about what the best anti-virus is.

I’ve tried to figure it out for myself.  As far as price is concerned, it seems like you get what you pay for.  And I mean that in a couple of different ways. First, free anti-virus is free for a reason.  It’s just not that good.  The best free anti-virus I have found is AVG.  It seems to do a fair job without slowing down your system too much.

Second, it seems that the more you pay for an anti-virus, the more bells and whistles it has.  This is not necessarily a good thing.  Too many bells and whistles can seriously affect your systems performance.  In my opinion, I think that an anti-virus should be just that, an anti-virus and nothing else.

It has been my experience that Norton’s Anti-Virus by Symantec provides the best all around coverage for the price and lack of demand on the system.  I’m talking about Norton’s Anti-Virus not Norton’s 360 or Norton’s Internet Security.  These two have too many bells and whistles and can drag down the performance of your system.

I may not be the world’s authority on Anti-Virus programs but, that’s pretty much what I deal with on a daily basis.  I see systems all day with all different kinds of anti-virus programs.  I see a lot of them with Mcaffee, Trend Micro, AVG, Avast, and ESET that are infected with viruses.  It is rare, and I mean very rare, that I see an infected system that has Norton’s Anti-Virus installed.

I’m just sayin’…
