Consumer Electronics Show 2016

For those that might not know, each year the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is held beginning to mid January.

This show features the latest and greatest technology available to consumers, as well as up and coming items not yet released. Each year they do a “Best in Show” featurette, as well as a People’s Choice award. This year featured many new advances in phones and mobile integration into everyday lives, ranging from a 6” Smartphone with a 16 Mega pixel camera; to a USB device that allows you to mirror your mobile device’s screen to your computer monitor.

Today we will be focusing on the People’s Choice of the show. This year’s winner is actually a gaming laptop, which has not been featured in almost 2 years. The Razor Blade Stealth Ultrabook, is a new 12.5” gaming laptop that features Razor’s signature style and performance. Most laptops that focus on lightweight and small form factor designs tend to sacrifice performance. Razor decided to not compromise and went with both a lightweight design and high performance specifications.

The base model for this laptop features one of Intel’s most powerful processors, the i7. Running a dual-core i7 at 2.5GHz in a laptop is not unheard of but in an Ultrabook it is pretty rare. Then we have 8GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD, and a Quad HD screen with a Native resolution of 2560×1440. Featuring 4 USB 3.0 peripheral ports and the essential Ethernet port for serious gamers (which are normally omitted from Ultrabooks to keep their thin design) you will have room for all of your devices. At 2.75lbs this is one of the lightest Ultrabooks you are going to see with this amount of power inside.

Now this system really shines when it is connected to the peripheral docking station that allows the laptop to have access to a high end graphics processor, or GPU. The base model of the docking station has a GTX 980Ti graphics card installed, and will allow you to connect an external monitor and use your laptop as a high end gaming system. This means if you are tired of the small 12.5” screen, you can connect an ultra HD monitor to the docking station and play your games in comfort without straining your eyes.

So if you are looking for a gaming laptop that is not going to break your back, then look no further than the People’s Choice of CES2016 the Razor Blade Ultrabook.
